Webinar hosting presenter Matthew Pierce
Matthew Pierce is an entrepreneur, university lecturer, and game designer. He attended Stanford University where he was an All-American swimmer, an NCAA Champion, and a member of the US National Swim Team.
After graduating from Stanford, Pierce co-founded Rosum Corporation which was later acquired by TruePosition. He then moved to Los Angeles, and received his MBA at UCLA Anderson.
Matthew now serves as co-founder and CEO of O Labs, a joint venture between Originate, Manatt, Phelps & Phillps, and ICM Partners. O Labs incubates and operates early-stage portfolio companies that attempt to address the needs of large enterprises. Pierce is a regular contributor to Southern California's Silicon Beach and the Los Angeles startup community.
Pierce is a Lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Visiting Scholar in UCLA’s Economics Department where he teaches Entrepreneurship.
Pierce is also a game designer, serving as founder and Chief Creative Officer of Robot Dinosaur Games. He created the game Scenarium and co-founded Versus, a real-money video game tournament platform backed by O Labs.
Matthew Pierce lives in Crenshaw with his wife Maggie Sandoval. They grow blackberries.
Webinar hosting presenter Nate Redmond
As managing partner of Rustic Canyon, Nate Redmond is responsible for leading the firm. Nate is part of an extended family of entrepreneurs. Growing up in this environment instilled in him an appreciation for the process of creating and building great companies. He leans on experience as an investor, entrepreneur, and strategic advisor to work alongside extraordinary entrepreneurs. Nate has a keen interest in disruptive change to help emerging companies create breakthrough products and build value.

Before Rustic Canyon, Nate worked with Professor Clayton Christensen at the Harvard Business School and co-founded an Internet infrastructure company. Previously, Nate worked with the Boston Consulting Group, The Boeing Company and General Electric. Nate enjoys mountains and oceans and all activities that involve being active with family in these venues.

Education: Nate earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and an MSE and BSE from The University of Michigan College of Engineering, where he was an Entrepreneurial Fellow in the Engineering Global Leadership Honors Program.

Based in the Los Angeles office, Paul Bricault complements his time as a Venture Partner with his work as founder of the leading digital media accelerator in Los Angeles ¬ Amplify.LA.
As a member of the Greycroft team he oversees the firm’s investments in Klout, OpenBucks, Playdek, 9Gag, Rumr and LiveFyre.
Previously, Paul was the founder of The Mailroom Fund (MRF) ¬ a venture fund in partnership with Accel Partners, Venrock and AT&T that focused on early stage investments in Southern California-based digital media firms. He founded MRF during his 16 year tenure at the William Morris Agency (WMA) where he served as a member of the Board of Directors in his role as Executive Vice President and head of both the Global Marketing Practice and the Digital Media Group. Prior to WMA, Paul worked at Paul Kagan Associates where he ran the Los Angeles office for the Carmel-based media valuation and consulting firm and was responsible for covering the worldwide film, television, and new media industries.
In addition to sitting on the Board of Councillors for the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California (USC), Paul is an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Cinema-Television at USC where he has taught a course for the last 20 years on the Impact of Technology on Media. He also sits on the LA Mayor’s Council for Technology and Innovation.
Paul has an MA in Communications Management from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California, and a combined Honors BA in English Literature and International Relations from the University of Western Ontario in Canada, where he was raised.

Jamie Kantrowitz is a partner at Mesa+, and formerly at Launchpad LA, the leading startup accelerator in Southern California.

She brings to investing diverse experience founding, scaling, and operating both start-ups and large organizations globally, a passion for building communities as well as deep expertise connecting new technologies with massive audiences. Before entering professional investing, Jamie co-founded LA-based Gobbler, a software company building simple but powerful cloud collaboration, organization and backup tools for media creators. Some of her recent investments include The Noun Project, BitVault and Parachute Home.

From 2004-2009, Jamie held various senior roles at MySpace where she joined early in the company’s inception and started the Marketing and Content divisions. She was responsible for launching MySpace’s music and social entertainment platform, and then was a leader in the international expansion of the company into 30 countries as SVP, Global Marketing + Entertainment based in London, UK. For her work at MySpace, she was recognized as one of Billboard Magazine’s “30 under 30” list and was honored in Ad Age’s “Top 50 Marketers.”

Jamie initially found her passion for empowering people with new technology products through her experiences in both digital media and politics. In 2004, as the Digital Director at Rock the Vote, she led development of the web’s first web-based and mobile tools to drive over 1.2 million young people to register to vote. She also served as Deputy Finance Director for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo during his 2002 gubernatorial bid. Throughout her career, Kantrowitz has continuously worked on digital product development for such brands as Vodafone, Polo Ralph Lauren, and SonyBMG.

Jamie has served as a Board Director for Soundcloud, the web’s leading audio platform, and remains a passionate advocate for youth issues, serving as an advisor for Invisible Children and I am That Girl. In 2012, she was an advisor to the digital campaign for President Barack Obama.
