About This Webinar

Join us for an engaging exploration of the dynamic intersection between physics and biology focusing on active matter—non-equilibrium systems of interacting components that consume energy to do work and produce emergent behavior. In the living world, active matter is found across all scales, from the collective movement of swarming and swimming organisms to cell dynamics during tissue morphogenesis and the self-organization of cytoskeletal molecules. Within the physical sciences, studies of active matter inform the design of adaptive materials and even our understanding of the origins of life.

With biologists using physical principles to tackle challenging questions and biological phenomena providing useful systems for physicists, this webinar will bring together leading researchers in a moderated panel discussion across the breadth of active matter in biology. The discussion will emphasize connections across multiple disciplines to address challenges and open questions in the field.

This webinar will be recorded to watch on demand after the live event. Register for the event to join the discussion and receive a notification when the recording is available.
