As the Costa Rican coffee sector continues to face challenges regarding productivity, climate change, disease propagation and economical sustainability, the Coffee Institute of Costa Rica has been dedicated to the development and innovation of mobile and web tools to support farmers, mills, all the way to our final consumers. This lecture will explore the process, the lessons learned along the way, and how empowering our coffee sector and converting data into strategic information is having a positive impact in the livelihoods of the people behind every cup of coffee while strengthening our STATEMENT with the world.

Environmental Engineer, Coffee Institute of Costa Rica
María Paz Lobo Zeledón, Environmental Engineer graduated from the Institute of Technology of Costa Rica with studies in Innovation and Technological Development from École de Technologie Supérieure in Canada. Currently in charge of Traceability and Environmental Management at the Coffee Institute of Costa Rica (ICAFE), specifically as project manager of the Café de Costa Rica: Traceability & Sustainability Statement, technological data platform for the coffee sector. She has worked and developed research in Life Cycle Assessment and Environmental Product Declarations in green coffee, as well as Climate Change mitigation and adaptation strategies with the NAMA-Café project.
