Allison Smith is News Director at KCCI 8 News. She began her career at KCCI as a news producer before working as a producer and executive producer at television stations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. She returned to KCCI’s parent company, Hearst Television, as Assistant News Director at WLWT in Cincinnati in 2014. She was promoted to News Director at KCCI in December 2018, only the fourth news director and first female news director in station history. She has been awarded three regional Emmys, two for Outstanding Newscast and one for Interview/Discussion Program.
Smith is a graduate of Drake University and has an MBA from Iowa State University. She is married and has two children.
