Unexpected Lessons on an Unexpected Journey: My Career as a Chemist, Lab Manager, and Business Manager

About This Webinar

Leaving graduate school with a PhD in chemistry in September 1988, I still was unsure of my career direction or options beyond an industrial R&D role. My 30 year career was filled with a richness of opportunity and experience that I never could have imagined, matched by a range of challenges that I never could have anticipated. The story of my passage, while unique in its details, provides lessons that everyone can apply toward their own career journey.

Key learnings from this presentation will include:
• Avoid overly structuring your career goals
• Deal with the ways that STEM is still structured around the needs and habits of men
• Stay true to who you really are as you strive to meet your goals.
