Diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 12, Kristen had multiple surgeries and is now living with an ileostomy. Come hear what she learned about being resilient, leaning on friends, finding support and accommodations through college and ultimately accepting her ostomy. As an adult, she now thrives with her ostomy, as she continues to meet others and help new ostomates on their journeys!     Over the past 4 years, Athena has advised both new and experienced ostomates on their ostomy care journeys as a Coloplast employee through the Coloplast Care program. Overall, her goal is to make life easier for people with intimate healthcare needs by providing product troubleshooting and lifestyle support. She is passionate about listening and validating ostomate's experiences, providing encouragement, and brainstorming solutions that help ostomates go about their normal day with confidence and ease.

    Kristen has been living with an ileostomy since she was 19 years old. Kristen was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when she turned 12 years old and had a long road ahead of her until her colon was removed. She also received a “barbie butt” surgery that affected her life forever. It took Kristen many years to really accept her ostomy pouch, and now she helps others living with an ostomy in the work she does and via social media. Kristen previously worked at 11 Health as a Patient Coach and currently works at Stealth Belt, an ostomy support belt company.
