In this webinar, CollegeAdvisor and CIEE will help students and families navigate college-bound options when the traditional “start this fall on campus” path doesn’t feel quite right.

Whether you haven’t committed to a school yet, didn’t get into your top choice, or are considering a different timeline, this session focuses on intentional alternatives that still lead to college success - including deferring enrollment, taking a gap year, starting at community college, or earning college credit abroad before transferring.

Jeff Bradley, Global Head of School at CIEE, will share insights on how globally focused programs like college first-year abroad and structured gap years can help students gain clarity, maturity, and academic momentum while staying firmly on a college trajectory. You’ll learn how these options work, how they fit into the admissions and transfer process, and how students can return to college more confident and motivated.

In this webinar, we’ll cover:
- How to make an informed college decision when you’re unsure about your next step
- What to do if you haven’t chosen a college or didn’t get into your first choice
- College-bound alternatives to starting on campus right away, including college first-year abroad programs (earning credit while living in another country) and structured gap years
- What it means to defer college, when deferral makes sense, and how the timeline works
- The academic, personal, and career benefits of going abroad before or during college
- How globally focused programs can strengthen transfer applications and long-term college outcomes

If you know college is your goal but you’re questioning the timing, location, or structure of your first year, this webinar will help you understand your options and choose a path that moves you forward with confidence, purpose, and momentum.
