Dr Nicholas Hopkinson
Reader in Respiratory Medicine
Dr Nicholas Hopkinson is a Reader in Respiratory Medicine & Honorary Consultant Physician at The National Heart and Lung Institute of Imperial College and the Royal Brompton Hospital where he runs the Advanced COPD service.

His research focuses on addressing exercise and activity limitation in COPD in areas including pulmonary physiology and lung volume reduction, skeletal muscle impairment and pulmonary rehabilitation. His research has been funded by the MRC, The NIHR, The Wellcome Trust, The British Lung Foundation and The Moulton Foundation.

He is also active in tobacco control advocacy and is Chair of Action on Smoking and Health as well as Medical Director of the British Lung Foundation.

Professor Peter Collins MA, MD, FRCP, FESC, FACC
Professor of clinical cardiology
Professor Peter Collins is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology as well as a member of the British Cardiac Society and the Association of Physicians of Great Britain and Ireland. A member and Board member of several renowned societies and committees. He is currently the Chairman of the Task Force on Gender of the European Society of Cardiology. His interests are: cardiovascular disease, and in particular coronary heart disease, intractable angina, valvular disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease in women, hyperlipidaemia and the effect of a variety of hormones on the cardiovascular system including estrogens, progestogens, androgens, SERMS and phytoestrogens. He has published extensively in these areas and has investigated coronary flow mechanisms in the human coronary arterial system.

She is the NIHR CRN North West London Cardiovascular speciality lead and is actively involved in the development and recruitment for a number of multi-centre international clinical trials.
