Quality Mindset nurtured by Test Automation

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Vestas as a company cares for the quality of every product which is produced and delivered to its customers, or its internal employees, supporting daily business and operations. Each employee working at Vestas has a ‘Quality Mindset’ to achieve a high level of perfection while delivering turbines, software and security to their customers or its employees.

Vestas journey started last year where they decided to use 2 big technology providers, SAP and Salesforce to create one solution, supporting the service organization. Vestas Global IT selected vendors who were already working closely with Capgemini and Capgemini brought a quality mindset to support the end delivery of the product to Vestas Service Organization.

Early on, Capgemini proposed shift left techniques for the project which would support the development of the product lifecycle with quality checks at each stage and at the start of the project. Both developers and testers were part of the journey using unit-testing while writing their code and testers supporting with Manual Testing to validate the functionality.

The main challenge was to validate the component integration test, which was very difficult because of the various teams doing development e.g. database, interface, and front end. Practically it was challenging for any organization to do the component integration test, because of different teams working at different paces.

Capgemini and Vestas went through different tools, to support the component integration test while also doing POC’s and evaluating the products available in the market, with the main criteria being how easy it was to learn and maintain the tools.

Finally, selecting 'Postman' which is currently being used to create the component integration test. The importance for any product to have a strong framework which can hold the business process layers going forward can not be underestimated.

The Capgemini team developed the 'Postman' framework which is driven by Neman to support Vestas CIT. On top of that, Vestas is using the UI testing tool Tosca which is being used to Automate UI Testing.

By having tools and Automated Test in Vestas product development life-cycle, they can fail fast at an early stage of their product development.
