Steve Major is a litigation partner at Bennett Jones, representing individuals and corporations on a broad array of matters including commercial and contractual disputes, real and personal property, energy law, construction, civil fraud recovery, police law, estate law, serious personal injury (head of the firm's practice group), and certain "white-collar" criminal and quasi-criminal defence work. Steve is a member of the Bennett Jones Energy Services Group team.

Steve is a Past President of the Calgary Bar Association and an active member of the Canadian Bar Association. Steve has appeared before several administrative tribunals and all levels of courts in Alberta, including the Alberta Court of Appeal. Prior to joining the firm, he clerked at both the Court of Appeal and Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta for the former Chief Justice, the Honourable W.K. Moore.

Steve is a strong advocate for the Canadian Energy Industry, and has been a recent speaker at his alma matter's 2020 Queen's University Oil and Gas Speakers Series, as well as the 2020 Indian Resource Council's Indigenous Participation in Major Projects Conference on the topic of UNDRIP. In the Spring of 2020, Steve lead a (successful) effort to advocate against a proposal Queen's University's Board of Trustees were considering to divest Queen's endowment away from Canadian Energy equities. In May 2020, Steve also authored the Opposition Article in the "National" Canadian Bar Association's monthly magazine to the "Climate Justice Resolution", which had been proposed to the CBA by one of its members.

Steve is deeply connected in the Western Canadian business community. He is the current Co-Chair of the 70th Canadian Energy Executives Association, the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the annual Calgary Flames Ambassadors' Charity Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament (which has raised close to $6 Million in 15 years), and was recently a 20-year volunteer with the Calgary Stampede having chaired its Western Legacy Awards Committee, and then more recently chairing its Innovation Committee.

Steve is an avid golfer, an occasional jogger (but should probably exercise more). In addition, Steve enjoys the odd acting job and occasionally writes opinion pieces for the local newspapers.

Sonya Savage was appointed as Alberta’s Energy Minister on April 30, 2019. Relying on her extensive background in the industry, and spending the last 12 years fighting for pipelines and the energy sector, Savage will continue her work to promote and develop Alberta’s oil and gas wealth and deliver on getting pipelines built.

Chairman, President, and CEO of Tourmaline
Michael Rose has more than 40 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry. He began his career at Shell Canada in 1979, where he was employed for 14 years in various exploration and production positions and was Manager of Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Research at the time he departed to found Berkley Petroleum Corp. in 1993.
As President and CEO of Berkley Petroleum Corp., he grew the Company from a microcap to an Intermediate Exploration and Production company with production of 42,000 boepd. Berkley, one of Canada’s premier explorers in the 1990’s, was sold to Anadarko Petroleum for an enterprise value of $1.6 billion in March 2001.

In July 2001, Mr. Rose founded Duvernay Oil Corp. As President and CEO, he and his team grew the company from a private microcap to a public Intermediate Exploration and Production company with production of 27,000 boepd by 2008. Duvernay was one of Canada’s most active and successful Exploration and Production companies during the 2000s and was one of the pioneers in the emerging Alberta Deep Basin and British Columbia Montney plays. The Company was sold to Shell Canada in August 2008 for an enterprise value of $5.9 billion.

Mr. Rose founded Tourmaline Oil Corp. in September 2008 as a private oil and gas company. Tourmaline went public in November 2010 and has current production of 330,000 boepd and is currently the largest producer of Canadian natural gas. Mr. Rose is President, CEO and Chairman of Tourmaline.

Mr. Rose is on the Advisory Board of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and is involved in a wide range of volunteer and philanthropic pursuits with his wife Sue in the areas of youth education, health and sports.

First elected into politics at 21 years of age then as chief at 25, leadership over 30 yrs.

While in office, he has gained experience in Business, and Governance. Wallace has strived to create economic, financial independence for Onion Lake Cree Nation, while continuing to practice Cree traditional ceremonies and implementing these traditions in his approach. Chief Fox acknowledges these teachings that have been passed on to him from wise traditional knowledge keepers.

Some of Chief Fox’s achievements include:

- Developed first gas Co-op in North America, utilizing First Nation Natural Gas.
- Negotiated 200 million dollar SAGD with Black Pearl.
- Winning Bill C 27 court case where the Federal Government took Onion Lake Cree Nation to federal court, so he is very familiar with Federal and Provincial Government processes
- Assisted in the establishment of Gold Horse Casino in Lloydminster

Lobbying and negotiating with Chiefs and Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) and the Province of Saskatchewan.
- Quadrupling Onion Lake’s Asset value during his tenure
- Without the billion barrels of heavy oil in the ground.
- The First First Nation to have a cell tower on Indian reserve.
- Signed MOU with Minister of Health Jane Philpott.
- Under TLE, we put 80,000 acres into reserve in Sask.
- Created Onion Lake Energy (OLE holds all exploration rights from Onion Lake Cree Nation.
- Onion Lake Energy farmed out a drilling program to BP, another First in First Nations Country
