The Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center was established in 1978 as one of the first emergency medicine training programs in the country. For nearly forty years the residents of the Harbor-UCLA Emergency Medicine Residency Program have played an integral role in delivering care to the largely underserved communities of south Los Angeles County.

Our mission is to deliver the highest level of care to the patients we have the privilege of treating and to promote the sense of service that brought us to the practice of medicine. These core principles underlie a superlative clinical and academic 4-year training experience that provides Harbor residents with the tools to be leaders, whether in academic or community emergency medicine, or even outside the sphere of traditional medical practice.
