Talk from Dr Doug Barnes, the Head of Chemistry at C-Capture.

What does a net zero world look like? And what does capturing, utilising and storing CO2 have to do with it?

We welcome Dr Doug Barnes, the Head of Chemistry at C-Capture. Doug earned his PhD, “Understanding the Potential of Carbon Dioxide in Organic Synthesis” from the University of Leeds. He has worked for C-Capture, a spin-out company based in Leeds since 2011. At C-Capture he has played a critical role in developing probably the best general technology in the world for separating carbon dioxide from other gases. The primary application for this is for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), widely viewed as essential if we, as a global society, are to have any chance of reaching net zero carbon emissions by the middle of this century.

More generally, he enjoys pottering on his allotment, his never ending project to add a new bathroom to his house and disco music.
