With new environmental regulations accelerating decarbonization in ports, ships are increasingly required to switch off auxiliary engines and connect to shore electricity while at berth. This webinar will explore the technical, operational and commercial implications of shore power (OPS), including the requirements under the EU maritime requirements, port infrastructure readiness, retrofit challenges for vessels, and the economics of implementation.

Roland Teixeira

EOPSA | President

Roland Teixeira is President of the EOPSA, Europe’s premier association regrouping OPS’s top port electrification experts.

As a former GE executive, Roland oversaw installation of OPS for inland shipping in Rotterdam in 2008. This was a successful partnership between GE, the utility, the DSO and Port of Rotterdam.

From 2011, Roland held various responsibilities including President of AMCHAM Rotterdam, member of the Rotterdam Economic Development Board, board member of employer federation VNO-NCW-Rotterdam, Chair of ECB Committee at the WFO, Chair of the EU ESSF Port Electric Systems & Grid Subgroup and others.

Alongside EOPSA, since 2025, Roland is a director of Seabridges Insights, specialised in OPS Ecosystems and Port Energy Hubs working on a key demonstrator in Cherbourg.

Ekaitz Lopez Amurrio

Port Authority of Bilbao | CFO & EU Funds Coordinator

Ekaitz Lopez Amurrio is Chief Financial Officer and EU Funds Coordinator at the Port Authority of Bilbao and a member of its Management Committee. He represents the Port in energy and sustainability activities within the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) and currently chairs the FuelEU Maritime Update Task Force of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF).

He has been involved in BilbaoPortLab since its creation, contributing to the development of the Port’s open innovation ecosystem and to initiatives linked to electrification and the energy transition. He is also closely involved in BilbOPS, Bilbao’s EU-supported shore power programme, and in the Port’s broader work on renewable energy integration and the evolution towards a more integrated port energy model.

Jasper Van Dijke

Port of Rotterdam | Program Manager Shore Power

Jasper van Dijke is Program Manager Shore Power at the Port of Rotterdam Authority. He drives the realization of shore power facilities for seagoing and inland vessels, working closely with public and private partners across the maritime and energy sectors. Before joining the Port of Rotterdam, Jasper worked in strategy consulting and business development roles. He holds a Master's degree in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
