It will also consider the role of public charging within a robust strategy.

As the Fleet Environmental Manager at Platform Housing Group, I’m leading the organisation’s transition toward a low carbon, sustainable fleet. I manage the rollout of (EV) charging infrastructure across offices, residential schemes and colleagues’ homes, ensuring the business is equipped to support widespread EV adoption. I also manage the transition of van drivers from ICE vehicles to electric alternatives, guiding operational change, driver engagement and environmental performance improvements.

Through this work I play a key role in reducing emissions and helping Platform Housing Group achieve its long term sustainability goals. I’ve also recently started to manage our EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme for car drivers within the business.

Andrew Teer
transport operations manager, SBS
Andrew started his career in transport back in 1999 when he left school at 16 via an apprenticeship in a transport team within the NHS, and by the age of 21 had worked his way up to one of the Transport Managers, where he stayed until 2016, when he had a short stint as a Transport Manager for G4S.

In 2017 Andrew worked as a self-employed Transport Project Manager / Consultant for 2 years before joining family owned business Smith Brothers Stores Ltd (SBS) as Transport Operations Manager in 2019. In this time Andrew has overseen a huge modernisation of the fleet and systems at SBS, including making the car fleet ICE free by the end of 2021, and helping the business achieve FORS Gold accreditation in 2023. Andrew has been in post during a huge growth period for the business which has seen the mixed fleet size double in size since 2019.

Andrews achievements were recognised in 2024 when he was awarded the Fleet Management Superstar award at the Great British Fleet Awards.

Mike Roberts returned to Fleet News in 2021 having previously been its news editor in the early 2000s.

She is responsible for ensuring the fleet operates efficiently, safely, and sustainably, playing a key part in enabling low emission transport across the organisation. Sarah is known for balancing operational, financial, and environmental priorities to support the Environment Agency’s transition to greener mobility. Her proactive approach and trusted relationships with senior leaders, operational teams, and partners reflect her commitment to continuous improvement, modernising fleet operations, and advancing the Environment Agency’s wider sustainability goals.
