Rumen health is often discussed and often blamed for a farm's problems. Yet, our actual understanding of the rumen's regulation is poor. During this presentation, we will explore what we know about the rumen's regulation, discuss recent research regarding the rumen's physiology, and where the gaps remain in our knowledge. We will also discuss practical considerations regarding managing and feeding cows for optimal rumen health.
