The automotive Industry is undergoing a profound transformation. Initially driven by stringent emission regulations, internal combustion propulsion is being supplanted by electric propulsion. As a result of rapidly declining battery costs, the transition is now accelerating, not only because of the regulatory environment, but because the total cost of ownership of electric vehicles is substantially less than ICE vehicles.
The following presentation “Electric Vehicles: Past, Present and Future”, is being given by Richard O. Schaum, an automotive industry veteran who has a unique perspective on this subject, having served as the EVP of Product Development at Chrysler, and also having worked in a start-up dedicated to developing proprietary electric vehicles.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and previously served as its President and Chairman.
