Surgical Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Dr. Jay Simhan is Chair and Professor of Urology at Temple University Hospital and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He serves as the Co-Leader of the Fox Chase – Temple Urologic Institute and holds the inaugural Carol and Lou Della Penna Endowed Chair in Urologic Cancer Survivorship – the only endowed chair that spans both Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He also serves as the Fellowship Director of the Society of GURS-verified Male Reconstruction and Prosthetic Urology Program at the Fox Chase – Temple Urologic Institute.
Dr. Simhan graduated summa cum laude with highest honors and BS degree in Chemistry from UNC-Chaple Hill. After also completing his medical degree at UNC, he completed General Surgery and Urology residencies at Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed additional fellowship training in Urologic Trauma, Reconstruction, and Prosthetics at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Simhan has completed additional executive leadership training at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Simhan is an active and contributing member of the AUA, American College of Surgeons, Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), Societe of Internationale d’Urologie, Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons, and the Sexual Medicine Society of North America. He currently serves as Fellowship Committee Chair and a member of the Board of Directors of the GURS.
Dr. Simhan’s clinical practice is dedicated to urethral stricture disease, open and robotic urinary tract reconstruction, penile implant surgery, male anti-incontinence surgery, revision male prosthetic surgery, peyronie’s disease and complications from urologic cancer treatment. He has published chapters in many leading textbooks, including the definitive chapter on lower urinary tract trauma, the gold standard textbook, Campbell-Walsh-Wein Urology. Dr. Simhan has co-authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters in leading journals, including the Journal of Urology, Urology, European Urology, and the Journal of Sexual medicine.
