5G is a new cellular technology that continues to evolve. The first 5G releases focused on eMBBS (enhanced Mobile Broad Band Service) type use case. Another very important use case is eMTC (enhanced Machine Type Communication). RedCap is the evolution towards eMTC that requires features like lower costs, lower complexity, power savings functionality. With the eventual convergence of LTE technology related to MTC, like CatM1 and NB-IoT to 5G, RedCap is the first attempt to move towards such industrial Verticals.
