5G network deployment has recently been questioned due to concerns on the electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure that radio base stations produce on users. However: what is the EMF exposure generated by a 5G smartphone? Is it comparable to the one generated by a 5G base station?

This webinar answers these questions, presenting a novel spectrum analyzer-based method to assess both smartphone and base station exposure contributions in commercial 5G deployments. Outdoor and indoor measurement results obtained with a handheld Spectrum Analyzer will be presented, revealing how smartphone exposure dominates over the base station one.

The webinar will be 45 minutes followed by a 10 to 15 minute Q&A.

Luca Chiaraviglio received the Ph.D. degree in Telecommunication and Electronics Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy. He has co-authored more than 160 articles published, and his current research topics cover 5G and B5G networks, optimization applied to telecommunication networks, electromagnetic fields, and health risks assessment of 5G and B5G communications.
