The presenters of this webinar are leading an Australian and New Zealand research team looking at enzyme replacement therapy for people with pancreatic cancer and will cover the following topics:

1. Information about managing diet and nutrition when you have, or a loved one has pancreatic cancer. Including information for those who have had surgery or other treatments for pancreatic cancer.
2. Background on what the pancreas does and how pancreatic enzymes work in the body.
3. Tips on how to get the best out of your pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT), including when to have the medication and in what quantities.
4. Information about the Aotearoa (NZ)-Australia Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ASPERT) research group trials and how the results may help people with pancreatic cancer.

Dr Amanda Landers was born and bred in rural Waikato. The Deep South is where her passion for palliative care began as a house surgeon. She enjoys talking with patients/whānau facing life-limiting illness, helping them to plan and prepare for the future and making sure symptoms are well-managed. She has worked in Wellington and Darwin, Australia, in some extremely remote environments.

Amanda is currently a senior clinical lecturer with the Otago Medical School in Christchurch and loves to teach others about palliative care. She is also leading an Australasian research team (ASPERT) looking at enzyme replacement in pancreatic cancer. Her other research interests include advanced lung disease and a model of care, lymphoedema and medical student education.

Dietitian, Nurse Maude Hospice Palliative Care Service, Christchurch, NZ
Helen Brown currently works as a community dietitian at the Nurse Maude Hospice Palliative Care Service, Christchurch and is part of the ASPERT trial team.

In her job as a palliative care Dietitian she sees patients across Canterbury with a wide range of life limiting illnesses. She has a particular interest in the care of patients with pancreatic cancer and is involved in research in this area. She also sees patients diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in the Canterbury region. She has been invited to lecture at Canterbury University in the postgraduate palliative care programme, and presented on pancreatic cancer at conferences Nationally and internationally.
