    Professor Vince Pizzoni
Professor, Nottingham University, FIChemE CEng FCMI AFWES FEI MIET MREI MSPE
As a part-time professor at the University, Prof Vince Pizzoni brings over 40 years of diverse experience to the faculty.

Starting his career in process engineering, Prof Pizzoni has gone on to work in general management for some industry giants including ExxonMobil, Nalco/Ecolab and Engie. From developing low-temperature detergent additives for Procter and Gamble to managing numerous continents for Exxon Mobil and Nalco’s Energy Division, Vince’s career spanning over 60 countries has seen him mentor and motivate people for generations across international boundaries.

In 2007, he made a surprising move from Nalco to head up the newly formed Professional Guidance Centre at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, a change that would use all of skills and experience to bring a different approach to the role:

“Amongst other subjects I promoted engineering which a lot of the students ended up studying at some of the most prestigious global universities. I’m pleased to say I still keep in touch and mentor a few of my ex-students as their careers develop,” he said.

His next opportunity in executive recruitment for the energy industry paved the way to his current career at Nottingham:

“I spend two days a weeks at the University, where I get involved with the MEng and MSc design projects and also work with the Careers and Employability and Industrial Placements Teams helping support our students to find summer and year-long placements and graduate jobs." In his remaining time, Vince recruits executives and board members for energy companies and is a career coach to MBA, EMBA and MSc students at London, Cambridge, Imperial College and Chicago Booth Business Schools.

"Chemical engineers now have a wide range of career options in non-traditional sectors such as in fast moving consumer goods, food and drink, infrastructure, and finance and management consulting. They also have an important role to play in major local and global issues such as climate change and informing government decision-making,” Prof Pizzoni concluded.
