Preparing work-ready chemical engineering graduates is achieved by integrating the technical skills and knowledge learned at university with employability skills required by industry. It can be said that skills most relevant to employers globally are problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. Bridging the gap between the skills that graduates have and those that employers expect graduates to have when they enter the workforce is therefore important.

Providing enough opportunities for students to develop skills critical for the labor market along side the traditional teaching model focused on knowledge acquisition that a engineering student receives may not necessarily prepare graduates with the skills they need to transition smoothly into the workforce.

This session we will hear from industry experts who will workshop how to prepare job applications, prepare for interviews, key tips for writing assessment criteria and how to stand out from the crowd when applying for industry roles.

Networking 101 - Learn about the importance of investing in your network online and in real time! You will come away with tips on how to build your professional brand on LinkedIn, how to amplify your brand within your network in order to future proof your career.

At the end of the presentations we will break off into small groups for mock group interviews.
