First responders receive a vast amount of training related to how to do their job well and do it safely, but there’s more to surviving the job. This presentation will detail the challenges of stress, vicarious trauma and burnout in first responders and how that can take a toll on physical health, mental health, and relationships. It will also explore concrete, manageable steps providers can take to protect themselves and their families.
