Learn more about the IAFC’s National Volunteer Workforce Solutions (VWS) initiative to improve volunteer recruitment and retention by creating a more diverse and inclusive fire service. The program seeks volunteer and combination fire departments to participate in an internal climate survey and site visit focused on promoting diversity and inclusion.

Departments that employ best practices for establishing an inclusive environment, as well as departments that seek resources for improving diversity and inclusion efforts are encouraged to apply. National VWS staff members will be available to answer questions about the initiative, application process and participant requirements.
