You might think you know a lot about pranayama and meditation, and you probably do. Let's face, if you're reading this you've probably taken a few deep breaths and closed your eyes a time or two.

That probably also means you know there's a lot more to experience.

We're going to outline practices that are considered 'stimulating', 'calming', and 'balancing'. There should be a few more obscure ones you've never heard of or at least never tried. We'll do some practice, then we'll explore how you can incorporate pranayama into simple movement meditations and practice seamlessly integrating them (not at the same time) into your classes.

So yeah, it'll be dope.

Christina Wehry, E-RYT 200/500 My first yoga teacher was my mother. She was also my first tai chi and massage therapy instructor. She taught me how to eat artichokes and pull avocado pits out of the fruit. She introduced me to meditation and showed me what 40 years of practice looks like. She’s pretty much the dopest human I’ve ever met. I’ve been practicing yoga for 21 years because of my mother, but not for her. I am a therapeutic yogi, a massage therapist, a holistic health practitioner, and an implementer of meditation for all the freedoms. I’ve studied with the cool people too but I’m not a lineage kind of girl. I’m more of a ‘I paid you to learn from you not bow at your feet’ kind of girl. I am the nerdiest nerd and have done a sh*t ton of study on my own. Getting people pain free is what stokes my fire. I’m not here at YAS to make you be like me. I’m here to pass the torch, to teach the raddest lessons and help you live the life you want.

Founder, You Are Sacred School of Yoga
Lindsay Russo, E-RYT 500 Almost 20 years ago, I took my first yoga class with Yogi Ananda, a native of India who spent decades working alongside Mother Theresa. He ruined me.I thought that the way he taught yoga is how every other person would teach yoga. The experiences I had in other classes were fine but a drop in the bucket compared to the fullness I felt from Yogi Ananda. No longer able to take classes with him I decided to begin studying yoga on a deeper level. I took lots of training…LOTS. I invested many hours (and dollars) learning & studying in person with greats like Rama Jyoti Vernon and Nischala Joy Devi (co-founders of Yoga Alliance and Yoga Journal), Brian Dorfman, Leslie Kaminoff, Bija Bennet, Flossie Park. I spent less time with but have also been deeply influenced by Paul Grilley and Rod Stryker. My mission is to present what I have found to be the most potent teachings and teachers of yoga that I have encountered in my lifetime and to do it with flair. I have distilled all of this knowledge into the juiciest nectar and serve it up for you to, as Yogi Ananda would say, “Get the flavor!”
