About This Webinar

Abdominal pain, bloating, discomfort, constipation, and diarrhea. These are common symptoms of Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Irritable bowel syndrome is the most commonly diagnosed gastrointestinal condition in the United States. This disorder affects both the quality of life and the productivity of individuals. This session will discuss the common challenges faced by those with IBS. It will review the diagnostic criteria known as the Rome IV Criteria. The session will review a multidisciplinary approach including coaching to supporting individuals with IBS. Participants will be encouraged with hope and ideas to help empower oneself and/or clients to control their symptoms rather than being controlled by them. By the end of the session participants will connect a new positive meaning to the acronym IBS: Improve, Believe, Survive!

Learning Objectives:
- Identify criteria that may lead to the diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome
- Review common triggers that may cause IBS symptoms to increase
- Understand the impact that IBS has on productivity at the workplace
- Review suggested dietary modifications to help manage IBS symptoms including the FODMAPS and gluten restriction diet
- Examine the scope of practice for coach practitioner in supporting participants with IBS
