Avi Wolfman-Arent joined WHYY in December 2014. Prior to that he covered nonprofits for the Chronicle of Philanthropy and education technology for the Chronicle of Higher Education. Avi first took a shine to radio at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. He earned his undergraduate degree at Haverford College and grew up in the D.C. area. Despite the latter he’s a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, devoting an unhealthy portion of his conscious thought to the Sixers, Phillies, and Eagles. He lives in South Philadelphia.

Dale Mezzacappa is a journalist who has spent most of her career with the Philadelphia Inquirer. Since 1986, her primary area of coverage has been education and her work has won many local and national awards. Among those cited were stories in a series spanning 13 years that followed the travails of 112 inner city sixth graders promised a free college education by a wealthy philanthropist, and a package commemorating the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education that detailed continued racial separation and the vast inequality of educational opportunity in the Philadelphia area. Prior to taking over the education beat, she worked in Trenton and Washington covering politics and government for The Inquirer and The Record of Hackensack, N.J. She is currently contributing editor at The Philadelphia Public School Notebook, a bimonthly independent and non-profit publication with a mission to draw attention to injustices facing students in urban schools. A graduate of Vassar and a former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, she teaches a journalism course at Swarthmore College and is a past president of the board of the national Education Writers Association. Social Studies Teacher and Wrestling Coach, Methacton School District
In the of Fall 2020 AJ Maida will enter his 14th year teaching at Methacton High School in Eagleville PA. Prior to his current position as a social studies teacher and wrestling coach, AJ was a special education teacher and was awarded the 2017 PA Council for Social Studies Innovative Teacher of the Year. He lives in Blue Bell with his wife and two daughters.

Sandra Clark is Vice President for News and Civic Dialogue at WHYY, joining the station in 2016. She is a member of the executive leadership team and manages all news operations for radio, television and digital media and newsroom engagement with the community. Clark was previously managing editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer, where she led the paper to a Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 2014.
