John is a leading authority on sustainable design in Scotland with over 44 years’ experience as a practicing architect with extensive experience in housing and community issues. He pioneered working with communities with Assist Architects and with co-author, Annie Flint, wrote The Tenement Handbook. Since starting John Gilbert Architects in 1992, John has been a noted innovator in low cost, low carbon housing. Brian has worked for Glasgow City Council since 2004 and is involved with the management of the HMO Team including their inspections and enforcement work. Brian is also responsible for managing the registration of Private Landlords in the City which includes assessing whether applicants meet the standards required to be registered.

Jamie will discuss the Private Sector Housing Grants scheme, which assists owners in (pre1919) tenement stock in the city with common repairs to their building.

Julie works with Glasgow City Council, who provides free resources to landlords to support them in their role as a landlord. The Private Landlord Support Officer will work with landlords to improve the standards of private rented accommodation and offer advice on tenancy management arrangements. Support also includes regular newsletters, awareness session, checklists and guidance material available on the Glasgow City Council website.
