Patriots quarterback Cam Newton will miss the contest after testing positive for COVID-19 and being placed on the reserve list. Chiefs practice-squad quarterback Jordan Ta'amu also tested positive, according to multiple reports. All subsequent tests for both teams' players and personnel, however, have been negative, per multiple reports.
With Newton out, New England likely will be turning to backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to lead the offense, which will also be without leading rusher Sony Michel. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are hoping that Patrick Mahomes can guide Andy Reid and Co. to the franchise's fourth consecutive 4-0 start.
