Stories for policies: anchoring unheard voices in data-driven decisions

Friday, June 18, 2021 · 4:30 p.m. · Eastern Time (US & Canada)
About This Webinar

A fundamental trigger of injustice and inequity is systemic gaps in data collection and operationalization processes, which give decision-makers less than complete understandings of the pain points and lived experiences of underserved communities. The World Economic Forum has been working on tackling this issue and seeks to bring unheard voices to the table. In this session, participants will be introduced to the Inclusivity Quotient work and some of the initially uncovered data about the impact gaps in mobility systems have on underserved communities’ ability to pursue happiness and seize economic opportunity. With this context set, we will turn to the audience to tell rapid fire stories about their own lived experiences using mobility products and services to reach key destinations. The stories and insights generated will be leveraged to catalyze change.

Mouchka Heller leads the Inclusivity Quotient work at the World Economic Forum, which fosters equitable economic growth through mobility technology and policy. One of the key themes explored by IQ is antiracism, or how product redesign and transportation reform can break down the barriers historically put in place that have kept people of color behind and out of reach of economic opportunities. Prior to the World Economic Forum, Mouchka was Trade Commissioner of Infrastructure for the Consulate General of Canada in NY and the inaugural data protection officer of The Economist.
