About This Webinar

BlackSpace is approaching Juneteenth as a day to center the power of Black joy in our collective liberation. We owe it to our ancestors to celebrate! Let’s do it through designing, discussing, and celebrating our own Black joy spaces.

Want to design more Black utopias with us after this Juneteenth Grand Rising? Join us June 19 from 11:00 - 2:30 p.m. at our virtual Juneteenth Design Event! http://bit.ly/BlackUtopia21

AFFINITY SPACE - DIY Black Joy Spaces with BlackSpace
BlackSpace is an interdisciplinary collective bringing together planners, artists, and designers as Black urbanists, people who are passionate about the work of the built environment. They created the BlackSpace Manifesto to practice new ways of protecting and creating Black spaces in spatial environments. Board Member, Kyra Assibey-Bonsu (she/her/hers) is a well-versed cultural education-based fundamentalist who believes the story defines how communities engage and produce. She is a passionate urbanist who actively develops spaces through entrepreneurship and immigration/migration justice, like through her podcast, No Country For Moving. Co-Managing Director, Emma Osore (she/her/hers) is a participatory designer, social intrapreneur, and commissioned mixed media artist. In her focus on people-centered systems change, she co-creates emerging communities of anti-disciplinary creatives that transform culture. She was the
first Director of Community at the New Museum of Contemporary Art’s creative business incubator, NEW INC - resulting in its first majority-BIPOC membership.
