WEBINAR DETAILS
  • About
Are you a critical thinker? Do you obsess over the tiniest details in your work? Are you deeply curious and always looking for the details in the bigger picture? You might not know it yet, but you’ve already got what it takes to be a data scientist.

More than ever in today’s workplace, people are honing skills in one field and bringing them to an entirely new one — just like Wayne McClure.

At one point in time, Wayne was one of only two hundred people in the United States with the International Diamond Guild Master Stone Setter certification. Now? He’s a Technical Data Analytics Engineer at Nielsen, a company operating in over 100 countries, with approximately 44,000 employees worldwide. Specializing in market research, Nielsen totaled $6.2 billion in revenue in 2016 — thanks largely due to the importance of data at the company.

Join us for a conversation with Wayne as he opens up about his roots in jewelry, going back to school after a long absence, and what it’s like to work with data at one of the world’s most influential companies.

    Guest Speaker: Wayne McClure
After 18 years in jewelry, Wayne decided to go back to school and completed his undergraduate studies at USF, graduating with a degree in Computer Engineering. Since then, he’s made an incredibly successful transition into the Data Science field, working for several different fast-paced startups before taking on his current role — Technical Data Analytics Engineer at Nielsen.
