She now covers Staples and Hardline Retailers with a combined market capitalization of $1.3 trillion. Prior to Barclays, she was at Deutsche Bank where she covered Staples Retailing and Distribution. Karen started her equity research career in 1999 at Lehman Brothers and now has more than 20 years of equity research experience covering retail. She was ranked as the No. 1 Food Retail Analyst in the 2019 Institutional Investor All-America Research Team survey, No. 2 in 2017 and 2018 and No. 3 in the 2014 and 2015 surveys. Head of U.S. High Yield Research and Managing Director - Barclays
Hale Holden is Head of US High Yield Research and is a Managing Director at Barclays. Based in New York, he is the lead analyst responsible for covering the High Yield Consumer, Retail/Grocer, Food & Beverage, and Restaurant sectors. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, he was a Vice President at Deutsche Bank Securities in New York, where he was a research analyst covering the IG Cable, Media, and Telecom sectors and co-covering the HY Cable/Satellite sector. Prior to that, he spent three years at Bear Stearns in its TMT corporate credit research group. In 2018, Mr. Holden was named to the First Team in HY Consumer Products, Second Team of HY Food & Beverage coverage and Third Team for HY Retail in the Institutional Investor Magazine All-American Fixed Income Team. Mr. Holden received his bachelor’s degrees in Economics and History from Vanderbilt University.
