Food & Beverage Industry M&A: What to Expect in 2023

About This Webinar

This webinar, hosted by The Food Institute, looked at the major M&A trends in the food and beverage industry and what to expect in the year ahead, featuring presentations by John Siegler of BMO Capital Markets and David Schoeder of The Food Partners.

John Siegler discussed current economic and capital markets issues impacting the M&A market across major food & beverage industry sub-segments, and how both strategic and financial buyers are reacting to this dynamic environment as they assess growth opportunities both organically and acquisitively, and platform investing.

David Schoeder gave an update on M&A in the food retail sector, taking a look at out how the supermarket landscape is changing and what the future may bring for food retailers in 2023 and beyond.

The topics covered in the webinar included the following:

• Current M&A process trends: structures, third party due diligence, valuation analysis
• The impact of tighter credit markets on valuations and deal flow
• The critical role of delivery and its implications for food retailers
• The rise of private equity platform investing
• Thoughts on the robustness of the M&A market for the 2nd half of 2023 and beyond
