What makes a great leader? Being a great leader requires many more skills than simply managing a team, and offers room for development to more than just those who are being lead. As UXers, we know the importance of understanding our users and value how they think and feel and should try to continue exercising these empathetic skills when dealing with our own teams.
A great leader understands their impact on their team and product, whilst establishing an interpersonal relationship with it's teams members to ensure that they feel confident in their abilities and in sharing their ideas. A leader uses KPIs to measure strengths and achievements but must remain critical in their thinking and reflections when setting targets and goals. When mentoring and coaching new staff, those within leadership roles are responsible for helping to develop their knowledge, experience and trust. They should always try to remain encouraging, engaging, inquisitive and honest.
Join our panellists as they analyse the attributes that they consider to make a great leader and the different approaches that those leaders may take. We'll be discussing what issues they've faced in terms of leading or being lead, and most importantly how they overcame them.
