The Golden Knights sit in third place in the division standings with 13 points and a 6-1-1 record through eight games. Meanwhile, Los Angeles will try to battle its way out of the cellar in the HondaWest after going 3-5-2 with division-low eight points in 10 contests.

Can the Kings bounce back with a win on the road in Vegas on Sunday afternoon

Los Angeles was unable to overcome a slow start on Friday, falling short 5-2 in the first game against Vegas. Jonathan Quick stopped just six of 10 shots before getting pulled while Austin Wagner and Dustin Brown both scored third-period goals to help the Kings salvage the final score.

The Kings come in scoring just 2.80 goals per game while allowing 3.40 goals per contest and the eighth-most shots per game (32.8). Los Angeles has struggled in 5-on-5 situations but it has excelled on special teams through 10 games. The Kings have converted on 23.1 percent of their power-play opportunities, which ranks 13th in the NHL, and they’ve killed off 86.5 percent of their total penalties for the season (4th in the NHL).

Calvin Petersen is expected to get the call between the pipes in Sunday’s rematch. While the wins haven’t exactly piled up for Petersen, he’s earned the extra opportunity to patrol the crease. The 26-year-old is 1-3-0 with a 2.18 GAA and .935 save percentage in five games (four starts) this season. He’s been even better on the road (1.91 GAA, .943 save percentage) than at home (2.56 GAA, .924) and he performed well in his lone start versus the Golden Knights last season. Petersen stopped 42 of 43 shots to come away with the win in what turned out to be his best start of the season.
