James is a former NCO in the United States Army where he served for 11 years. He now leads advising and outreach services at Pierce College at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. James leads a team of advisors that provides full service advising at Stone Education Center and McChord Education Center. Services include educational planning, career exploration/connection to career resources, transcript evaluations, and preparation for transfer. James is also an adjunct faculty member who teaches College Success (COLLG 110), the first year experience course where students learn about the Pierce College community, connect with academic and holistic resources, and develop a tool bag of academic success strategies. James is representative of a Pierce College community that is committed to creating quality educational opportunities for a diverse community of learners to thrive in an evolving world. This commitment includes serving our military community, first-generation students, students of color, students with disabilities, and students who identify as LGBTQIA+.
