It looks like Dallas got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They suffered a grim 41-16 defeat to the Washington Football Team last Thursday. It was supposed to be a close game, and Dallas was supposed to come out on top, but neither of those things ended up happening. The losing side was boosted by WR Amari Cooper, who caught six passes for one TD and 112 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Cooper’s 54-yard TD reception down the right side of the field in the second quarter.

Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed ten. K Greg Zuerlein delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

Meanwhile, Baltimore didn’t finish too far behind, but the squad still lost 19-14 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday. QB Robert Griffin III wasn’t much of a difference-maker for Baltimore; Griffin III threw one interception and fumbled the ball once with only 2.75 yards per passing attempt.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Check back to see which squad is able to work their way into the win column.

For those playing along at home, this game was originally scheduled to be this week’s Thursday Night Football matchup. That was until the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers game was postponed from Thanksgiving Day to last Wednesday because of an outbreak of COVID-19 amongst the Ravens team and personnel. That outbreak extended to quarterback Lamar Jackson and he missed that game against the Steelers. The Ravens actually played the undefeated Steelers tough, even with backup Robert Griffin III, mostly behind a stout defense and running game. The Ravens need a game like this against the three-win Cowboys. They looked to be one of the league’s elite to start the season but November was not kind to Baltimore whatsoever. They went 1-4 over the last month and with Cleveland dominating the Tennessee Titans, the Ravens are in a distinct third place in a division they absolutely dominated last year to a 14-2 campaign.

Jackson is now cleared to play in this Tuesday game against Dallas, along with starting running backs Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins and therefore will be heavily favored. Even with their backups, they would be favored against the Cowboys. Next week they will play those rejuvenated Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football. The Ravens beat the Browns in the season opener 38-6, but this seems like a completely renewed Browns team led by a confident and recently efficient QB Baker Mayfield. This will be a huge test on who is the real deal in this division.

Even if the Ravens lose that game after a win against the Cowboys, they are still in good shape to make the playoffs. For the next three weeks to finish out the season, they do not play a team above .500. That is putting it kindly. They play the Jaguars, Giants, and Bengals. Between those three, their records combine for 7-25-1 for a .227 winning percentage. If you want to call that winning. The Ravens could win out and still have 10 wins which make them a strong Wild Card contender. It only gets that much easier if they beat Cleveland again. This would be an impressive outcome for a team that has been so affected by COVID-19. Somehow the Cowboys are also in the playoff picture. They haven’t played well at all but with how terrible the NFC East is, all four teams are still in it. They played some of the most uninspiring football of the season in a 41-16 drubbing on Thanksgiving against Washington. Even with almost an extra week to prepare against the Ravens, they are likely to have a repeat drubbing performance. If they lose to the Ravens as most experts expect, they still have a promising schedule and path to get into the playoffs.

They play the Bengals next week without their starting rookie sensation quarterback Joe Burrow. Then the Cowboys play San Francisco without their starting quarterback. Then they play the Eagles and Giants to close out the season with the division on the line. All of them are terrible that those two games will be a toss-up. The NFC East is still anyone’s guess. Strangely enough, this Ravens-Cowboys matchup is one of two legitimate playoff hopefuls. Possibly the most interesting matchup maybe if the Cowboys legend gets into the game with his new purple threads. Still a lot of intrigue in this one
