For those who are new to Beth David, welcome! You are invited to join us for High Holidays and can register for all of these experiences using the button below (we are asking for $100 to join all services) or you can click on the specific experiences that interest you and register for them at $25 apiece.
As you scroll down, you'll see that we are lucky to be joined by some wonderful guests and scholars throughout this time, and you can also explore each of our offerings by clicking on them to see timings for that service and other key details (again, members do NOT need to register for these experiences individually, only once at the bottom of this page).
In addition, Beth David is thrilled to welcome everyone for a special Erev Rosh Hashanah experience, family services, and learning on Yom Kippur afternoon. Information to join all of these sessions will be sent on Wednesday, September 16 along with access to all of our main services in one, easy to follow e-mail with links and clear directions.

Rabbi Joe Menashe
Rabbi Joe hails from Portland, Oregon, where he grew up attending Congregation Neveh Shalom. He spent his first summer at Ramah in California, where he now serves as the Executive Director, in 1995 as a Moreh (teacher) and social justice coordinator. He remained part of the Ramah family during the 90’s serving as Rosh Edah, Rosh Kvutzah for Seminar in Israel and Founding Director of the Meytiv Program, a Ramah based social justice program for high school students. Rabbi Joe received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and attended the Pardes Instititute for Jewish Studies from 1993-1994. Rabbi Joe obtained a Master of Hebrew Letters degree from the University of Judaism in Los Angeles in 1996 and received his Rabbinic Ordination and a Master of Arts degree (with a concentration in Jewish Education) in 2000 from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York .
From 2000 – 2006, Rabbi Joe served as the Hillel Director at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , Maryland. During his tenure, Hopkins Hillel opened a home for Jewish life, The Smokler Center for Jewish Life, Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Building. He was awarded Hillel’s Richard M. Joel, Exemplar of Excellence Award in 2004. From 2006 until 2010, Rabbi Joe has served as an Associate Rabbi at Congregation Shearith Israel in Dallas, Texas.
During one of those amazing “Ramah Summers,” Joe met Deborah Musher. Deborah and Joe were married in her hometown of Houston in 2002. Deborah is a special educator with a long history at Camp Ramah and focuses her work and research on students with autism. Together Joe and Deborah have three beautiful children, Molly, Gabriel, and Samuel.
Rabbi Claudio Kogan
Rabbi Dr. Claudio J. Kogan is the director of the Institute of Bioethics and Social Justice. He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine and a Module Co-Director of Medicine Behavior and Society at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine in Edinburg, Texas. Dr. Kogan is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He attended the University of Buenos Aires Medical School where he received his M.D. Dr. Kogan received his Maters of Hebrew Letters and his rabbinical ordination at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and his Master of Education from Xavier University, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also received his Master of Medical Ethics from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. Rabbi Kogan served on the Human Investigation Committee at Yale University. Dr. Kogan is a member of the Ethics Committee and the Internal Review Board of UTRGV/ Medical School and a member of the Ethics Committee for Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. He is also a chaplain to law enforcement agencies in the Rio Grande Valley. Rabbi Kogan served 26 for years multiple Jewish congregations in Buenos Aires, Michigan, Ohio, South Dakota, Kentucky, Florida and Texas. He is also a Mohel (certified to perform circumcisions) and a firm believer that Medicine and Religion are two sides of the same coin. Dr. Kogan is a strong advocate to combine Science and Spirituality and an activist who has traveled around the world promoting interfaith dialogue.
