Jessica Smith, PhD
Assistant Project Director, Research Assistant Professor
Jessica Smith’s research interests include health policy, public insurance, and health economics. Her work focuses on health care delivery and health outcomes for publicly insured populations.

Smith leads the Medicaid Policy and Business team at GHPC which provides technical assistance, policy research, and evaluation support to the Georgia Department of Community Health. Some of her recent projects include: evaluating the effect of transitioning children in foster care from Medicaid fee for service to Medicaid managed care; studying provider responses to a temporary increase in Medicaid reimbursement for primary care services; and evaluating a state-wide expansion of a group prenatal care program on maternal and infant health outcomes. Her research has appeared in Medical Care and Maternal and Child Health Journal.
