Kory Lavine, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis
Dr. Lavine is the principle investigator of a basic and translation science laboratory that is focused on understanding the importance and therapeutic implications of immune cell diversity in cardiovascular diseases. His group has discovered that the mouse and human heart contain distinct macrophage populations with divergent origins, repopulation dynamics, and functions. Current projects within his group are aimed at developing innovative strategies to reduce inflammation and enhance the reparative capacity of the failing heart. His group is also exploring heterogeneity amongst other cell types within the pediatric and adult human heart using single cell technologies. Dr. Lavine is also a practicing board certified cardiologist with expertise in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation.
