The presenter has taught at the middle school, high school, and college levels, and also served as a principal and district coordinator. He has been a principal of traditional and online schools, and over a decade ago he began and still runs a globally-recognized educational nonprofit focused on building a free library of videos by and for teachers and students everywhere. He has two master's degrees from Stanford University, ran the MERIT professional development program for teachers at the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College in California, served as a city commissioner, and is a past president of two Rotary clubs.
A primary focus of his work is to help school leaders and teachers find new ways to engage students in their learning, whether in person or online, while developing strong professional communities for sharing resources and ideas. He has keynoted and conducted workshops at over fifty ISTE affiliate and other conferences in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia, and has worked with school leaders at schools public and private, independent and religious, traditional and charter, and at all grade levels.
