Corporate Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Microsoft
Stahlkopf leads the company’s Legal Affairs group, consisting of more than 500 professionals supporting the company’s legal function. Prior to becoming General Counsel, Stahlkopf was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for the HR Legal Group within the Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs organization. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the company’s immigration, employment law, EEO investigations and employment compliance teams.

Stahlkopf joined Microsoft in 2007, and before becoming Deputy General Counsel for HR Legal, she was Associate General Counsel responsible for U.S. and global employment law teams.

Prior to joining Microsoft, she practiced law at Perkins Coie in Seattle, specializing in labor and employment law. Prior to her time at Perkins Coie, she practiced law at Cooley Godward in the Seattle area.

Stahlkopf received her undergraduate degrees in English and Philosophy from University of Washington. She received her MA in Philosophy from Duke University. She earned her JD from the University of Arizona, where she met her husband, Bill (also a lawyer), and where she was the Managing Editor of the Arizona Law Review.

She currently sits on the Board of Directors for BSA, a software industry group promotes legal software use and advocates for public policies that foster technology innovation and drive growth in the digital economy. She previously sat on the Board for the Center for Workplace Compliance, an employer association focused on workplace compliance.

Stahlkopf lives in the Seattle area with her husband, two sons, and dog. When not at work, she can be found on the water, as she is an avid stand-up paddleboarder.
