PART 1: CARES Act Funding Workshop

The CDE has asked its federal liaison firm in D.C., Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC, to lead a two-series virtual workshop: the first part (October 15) will cover CARES Act funding, legislative developments and federal policy changes; the second part (October 22) will highlight requirements under the UGG and EDGAR, as well as technical revisions by the Office of Management and Budget, and flexibilities offered related to disruptions caused by COVID-19 and related school closures.

Topics Include:

• Legislative update (more stimulus?)
• Period of Availability for GEER, ESSER and CRF awards
• Allowable Use of Funds (including discussion on Learning Loss Mitigation Awards)
• Equitable Services under CARES Act
• Documentation/ procedures/ internal controls
• Audit preparation (lessons learned from prior Disaster Relief audits)

All recipients of federal grant dollars (e.g., CARES Act, ESSA, IDEA, Perkins, AEFLA and School Nutrition) must comply with these rules to avoid audit exposure and to be eligible for available flexibility.

TIMES: 9:30 - 11:30 PST, lunch break, 12:30-2:30 PST
