Stephen Gow
General Manager, The Chester Hotel
Stephen Gow is a highly experienced hotel general manager with 40 years’ experience in hotel management, responsible for The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen.
He spent several years working in London for GLH, following several years with Thistle Hotels across Scotland. During this period, he was seconded to the island of Molokai in Hawaii to run the company’s interests which included a former resort hotel, an estate covering half of the island, a herd of premium cattle and a water company.

Stephen, a founding director of destination management organisation VisitAberdeen is also current vice chair and past chair of Aberdeen City and Shire Hotel’s Association. He held the same post in the Inverness Hotel’s Association. He is chairman of Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards. In 2015 he was a recipient of a Hospitality Industry Trust scholarship to study at the world-famous Cornell Institute.

Keen to support and nurture talent in the workplace and to encourage a new generation into a career in hospitality, Stephen was instrumental in the creation of Hospitality Apprenticeship North East and chairs this industry-led initiative.

Originally from Edinburgh, Stephen’s career has seen him manage hospitality businesses from Perth to Hawaii and Inverness to London.
