James C. Bly Jr. is the national practice leader of Ernst & Young LLP’s Family Enterprise Business Services (FEBS). Bly is responsible for working with business-owning families, family offices that own family-business holding companies, and upper-middle-market companies on matters related to growing larger, more valuable businesses both internally and through acquisitions; financing the growth of family-controlled businesses while maintaining family control; completing generational transitions of operating businesses; and designing and implementing shareholder liquidity plans. Bly has more than 35 years of experience working with such clients. He was a founder in 1982 of HWSC, a multidisciplinary professional services firm, whose FEBS division was acquired by EY in 2017. He has also either chaired or served on finance, investment, risk management, and nominating and governance committees of the boards of various multigenerational family businesses.
