Glenna Billingsley, Ph.D
Associate Professor of Special Education, Texas State University
Dr. Glenna M. Billingsley is an Associate Professor in the Special Education program at Texas State University, and teaches in the Behavior Disorders/Positive Behavior Interventions and Support concentration. She serves as the Associate Chair for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her research interests include behavioral interventions and instructional methods for students with emotional or behavioral disabilities, classroom management for secondary grades, and positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) in schools. She has longstanding interests in virtual reality for teacher preparation purposes, reporting results of a systematic review of the teacher education literature on immersive VR (Billingsley et al., 2019). Currently, Dr. Billingsley is conducting a line of research exploring VR to teach inservice and preservice teachers to use evidence-based behavior management techniques to manage common challenging student behaviors. Dr. Billingsley is using VR resources such as the TeachLivE platform and the Virtual Reality Technology Lab at Texas State University.
