Andy Speirs
Chief Technologist, Secure Connected Health,Booz Allen Hamilton
Andy Speirs leads Booz Allen’s cyber-enhancing services for the Department of Veterans Affairs. His responsibilities include overseeing protection of 1.3 million endpoints in a multiyear contract under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation program.

An information security leader based out of our McLean, Virginia, office, Andy has 20 years of leadership experience spanning the military and private sector. At Booz Allen, he helps clients mature their vulnerability management program to protect their data and technology assets. Andy’s leadership on our secure connected health initiative helps health delivery organizations improve their cybersecurity programs across the medical device security ecosystem by realizing the benefits of innovation while maintaining patient safety.

Prior to joining Booz Allen, Andy served as a naval flight officer and mission commander in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In the private sector, he built key aspects of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont’s IT infrastructure and served in multiple roles at the National Life Group, including chief information security officer (CISO). As CISO, he led an 18-month web redesign program to deploy seven new technologies, achieved no major security breaches over 12 years, and contributed to the best 8-year revenue and profit growth in the company’s history.

Andy holds both a B.S. in electrical engineering and a B.S. in accounting and management from Norwich University. He has also completed a Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth program for information security professionals.
