Frank Morrison
Author
Frank Morrison’s hip-hop-infused illustrations have been described as mash-ups of “urban mannerism, graffiti and abstract contemporary” that reflect African American livelihoods, histories and cultures. Of his work, Morrison says he wants “people to experience the visual rhythms that choreograph life for the average, everyday person.” Morrison—who formerly toured the world as a break dancer—has illustrated more than 20 children’s books, including the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe award winner “Jazzy Miz Mozetta,” the Society of Illustrators’ Original Silver Medal Honoree “The Roots of Rap” and, most recently, “The Secret Garden of George Washington Carver.” His latest book, with Connie Schofield-Morrison, is “I Got the School Spirit” (Bloomsbury).
