Lucy Fato is executive vice president and general counsel for AIG. She oversees the company’s Global Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory Groups as well as Government Affairs and Public Policy. Prior to joining AIG, Fato was managing director, head of the Americas, and general counsel of Nardello & Co., where she remains on the advisory board. Previously, Fato was general counsel of S&P Global. Prior to that, she was deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at Marsh & McLennan Companies. Fato began her legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell where she was a partner in the capital markets group. From 2018 to 2020, Fato was included in NACD Directorship magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the boardroom and governance community. In 2015 and 2017, she was named by Ethisphere magazine as one of the Attorneys Who Matter for her dedication to furthering corporate ethics.
